When students want mental health information, they often turn to social media. A "Creators Summit on Mental Health," held in 2023 by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s Center for Health Communication, paired two dozen social-media influencers who focus on mental health with university experts and researchers. The goal? Increase relevant, evidence-based mental health information on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. The creators—who reach millions—can personalize insights in ways researchers often can't. By collaborating with influencers on mental health science and message framing, the center hopes to narrow gaps in mental health care accessibility.
